And that sums up the slow-burn romance between Brax and Sydney. And sometimes we get what we didn't know we needed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I’m looking forward to more books in the series. Braxton and Sydney clash several times because she has a tendency to assume and has cast Braxton as the bad guy. Sydney is working on the ranch and is passionate about the ranch but also very hot headed, she yells first and asks questions later when she’s angry. Braxton has been gone for years and is only home because the ranch is failing and needs to talk to his brother about it. There’s a bit of will they/won’t they going on. Sydney and Braxton's story is a bit of a slow burn. I’m not sure if the author is planning on addressing their relationship in future books. It doesn’t feel like a cliff hanger but I definitely feel like I want more. To me this book feels like a happy for now instead a happy ever after. For those who are interested, there is some mild cussing. This book is a clean (no graphic bedroom scenes) romance. She isn't going to fall for the guy who doesn't care if the ranch is sold or succeeds, since he'll be leaving either way.This is the first book in the Harris Twins Ranch series. Her guard is up and she does everything she can to ignore the way Brax makes her feel.
